The hospital manager and the nurse has been arrested and an FIR has been registered against them.
“This is an unregistered hospital and the nurses are not qualified. The doctors do not have the necessary qualifications and the hospital did not have the neonatal facilities required as per law,” Senior Inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station Arjun Rajane told the media.
When the woman Rabiya Khan developed pain, no doctor was present at the hospital, the police added. The BAMS doctor asked the nurse to administer an injection to the patient. But the baby was not responding.
The hospital had no ambulance and the baby’s father had to ferry her in his auto-rickshaw to another hospital, but she breathed her last midway, police said.
Shivaji Nagar is notorious for illegal clinics and hospitals.
