Mumbai reported over 1,100 new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row on Thursday, taking the tally to 3,22,843, while five more patients succumbed to the infection. With the new patients being more than the recovered patients, the number of active cases increased to 8,997 from 8,320 a day before. The number of COVID-19 vaccine beneficiaries in Mumbai has crossed the 2-lakh mark. In another development, a vehicle with gelatin sticks, an explosive material, and an apparently fake number plate was found parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house in south Mumbai on Thursday evening. The BMC, with help from the police and Railway authorities, has launched a campaign to take action against people roaming without face masks in public places.
