Mumbai recorded the highest single-day spike in infections since December on Friday. The financial capital of the country reported 823 new cases and five deaths, taking the tally of cases to 3,17,310 and the death toll to 11,437. The overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases from February 12 to February 18 is 0.18 per cent. The doubling rate is 393 days as of February 19.The BMC has already announced stringent measures to prevent the spread of the virus. People found without masks in public will be fined and if five or more COVID-19 patients are found in a building, it will be sealed.Meanwhile, several parts of Navi Mumbai received rains on Friday evening. Vashi, Turbhe and Panvel areas received light shower.
