Mumbai: 550 housing societies in Chembur, Tilak Nagar get ‘sealing’ warning
With the spike in Covid-19 cases in M-West ward, that covers Chembur and Tilak Nagar, the BMC, in the last five days, has pasted notices outside 550 housing societies threatening to seal them in case of high prevalence of positive cases among residents. This decision was taken as most active cases in the ward are from non-slum areas, said civic officials. READ MORE

The city’s premier art hub Jehangir Art Gallery reopened after a ten month closure wrought by the Covid-19 lockdown.
Its seven exhibition halls will be opened in phases through April. The highlight of the display by inaugural artist Bibhuti Adhikary is an interesting 5 ft x 4 ft installation made up of 594 PVC pipes. The pipes are rolled to display 12 compositions on wildlife conservation.

Follow COVID-19 norms or face fresh lockdown, warns CM Thackeray
Concerned over the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday asked citizens to strictly follow government-mandated guidelines on masks and social distancing or be prepared to face another round of lockdown. After reporting 4,092 COVID-19 cases on last Sunday, the highest single-day tally in more than a month, Maharashtra registered 3,663 new cases on Tuesday, 461 of them in Mumbai.
Mumbai: 36 lakh people using local trains daily since Feb 1
Some 36 lakh commuters are using Mumbai’s suburban train network every day after its services were thrown open to the general public with restricted timings on February 1 amid the coronavirus outbreak.According to a news agency, the daily suburban train ridership comprises 19.30 lakh people on Central Railway and 16.50 lakh on Western Railway.
People must wear masks to avoid another lockdown: Mumbai Mayor

461 new COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, three deaths
Mumbai reported less than 500 new COVID-19 cases on the second day in a row on Tuesday. The tally of COVID-19 cases in the city increased to 3,15,030 with 461 new cases and the death toll rose to 11,423 with three new fatalities. On Monday, the city had reported 493 new COVID-19 cases after reporting 500-plus cases for five consecutive days since February 10.
