MUMBAI: An FIR for rash and negligent driving was filed against an ambulance driver, after the ambulance swerved off a bridge and fell on shops near Amar Mahal, Chembur on Thursday.
Police said Sarang Joshi (30) and an assistant, who were in the ambulance with a body, suffered injuries and were thus not arrested at the scene.
Inspector Lata Sutar said that Joshi told them he hit the divider as it was dark, causing the ambulance to turn turtle and fall. Police said Joshi and the assistant were rescued, but it took two hours to remove the ambulance from the shop’s rooftop.
The body of an 18-year-old murder victim was being transported for an autopsy. He had been killed by a pan shopowner and a minor, allegedly over Rs 6,000.
