Mumbai: Domestic help jumps to death from 22nd floor in Andheri – Times of India

MUMBAI: A domestic help employed at a film scriptwriter’s house ended his life by jumping from the 22nd floor of Oberoi Springs in Andheri (West) on Sunday. Deceased Kishan Babu (25) took the extreme step hardly two hours after he was counselled by the Amboli police at around 8pm and recorded his statement after he sounded normal.
Babu was upset and has gone into depression after his family at Uttar Pradesh fixed his marriage and later, he learnt that he was cheated by the girl’s family not informing about scars on her face and body.
Babu left his employer’s flat on Saturday after deciding to end his life. However, he returns the next day thinking that his employer will be left alone. On seeing him back, Babu’s employer took him to the Oshiwara police station to get him counselled. “Babu resided in our jurisdiction so his employer was directed to our police station. We counselled him and even recorded his statement and he sounded normal while leaving,” said Amboli police senior inspector Someshwar Kamte.
Within a few minutes after reaching his employer’s rented flat, he ended his life. In the statement, Babu’s employer said, “We reached home at around 10 pm and I went to take bath. Babu went to his room. When I came out of the bathroom I found him missing. I searched for him and found the French window of his bedroom open. I peeped out and found him lying down in a pool of blood.”
Babu was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. He has been working with the scriptwriter for the last four and a half years and was paid Rs 14,000 salary per month apart from other expenses. “Babu’s employer told that he has noticed him depressed since last few days after his parents fixed his marriage,” said the police.
