Mumbai on Friday reported 1,297 fresh cases of coronavirus, and with that, the total number of positive cases surged to 72,287. Also, 44 persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll of the country’s financial capital to 4,177.On the other hand, Maharashtra recorded the highest ever single-day spike in the number of COVID-19 cases as 5,024 new patients tested positive on Friday. Also, with 175 new deaths, the total number of fatalities in the state went up to 7,106.Meanwhile, the northwestern suburbs of Mumbai, which until a few weeks ago had comparatively fewer cases of Covid-19, is seeing a sudden spurt in numbers. The areas of Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali and Malad have emerged as the new Covid hotspots in the city.Also, in the wake of the rising COVID-19 cases, all scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India shall remain suspended till July 15, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Friday.The total number of COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 4.73 lakh and the fatality count is slowly inching towards the 15,000-mark.

Hair salons to reopen in Maharashtra from June 28
After vulnerability looming over their heads for three months due to the lockdown, salon owners around the city can finally open their shutters. Use of mask and sanitiser will be mandatory for customers and hairdressers. Salon owners will also have to sanitise every station and equipment. With all SOPs in place, brace yourself to shell out a higher amount for grooming services.

Police shut shops in Dahisar after north western suburbs emerge as new COVID19 hotspots
The north western suburbs of Mumbai, which until a few weeks ago had comparatively fewer cases of Covid-19, is seeing a sudden spurt in numbers. These are visuals of the police shutting shops in Dahisar East on Friday near Ovripada area which has been a containment zone since May 13. The areas of Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali and Malad have emerged as the new Covid hotspots in the city. The peculiar problem here is that the population resides in both skyscrapers and slums in the same locality making it difficult to contain the spread.
