Mumbai: BEST buses to operate on feeder routes – Times of India

MUMBAI: From this week, the BEST plans to launch services on feeder routes along the highways and arterial roads to provide last-mile connectivity to office-goers and self-employed persons. It also plans to increase its fleet size by 10% -200 to 250 more buses -to ferry 60,000 additional office-goers daily. The red buses have ferried five to six lakh commuters daily from as far as Virar-Nalasopara, Badlapur and Panvel to Mumbai during the past week. “We plan to introduce feeder routes from S V Road, Western and Eastern Express highways,” a senior official said on Sunday.
“If local trains start and there is a significant number of commuters at a particular station, we will introduce buses on station feeder routes too,” the official said.
