Housing society members arrested for Samosa party in Mumbai – Times of India

Police have booked the unknown members of the Kukreja Palace for organising the samosa party.

MUMBAI: Partying at the time of lockdown violating the social distancing rules could land one in jail.
The Pant Nagar police in Ghatkopar have booked several members and arrested two persons of a housing complex from Vallabh Lane for having musical and samosa party and violating the lockdown rules on Monday.
Police have booked the unknown members of the Kukreja Palace for organising the samosa party. Deputy commissioner of police (Zone 7) Paramjit Dahiya said that the police have arrested the chairman and a member of the society.
Police have invoked the IPC sections of 188 and 269 of Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant and Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life respectively.
Interestingly this is the same building where BJP MLA Prakash Mehta stays and some people say that the FIR is politically motivated. Mehta who was six term MLA from Ghatkopar constituency was denied ticket and the BJP choose Parag Shah in his place.
The video of social gathering went viral in Ghatkopar on Monday where 20 to 30 people are seen gathered below the Kukreja Palace compound and are eating samosa.
“While a person is seen playing guitar with microphone, loudspeaker and other person is seen distributing samosas in the plate and chutney to the people gathered. Women are also seen in the picture. While some of them are wearing mask some are not, ” said an official of Pant Nagar police.
The party probably held on Monday afternoon and no sooner did the video went viral the Pant Nagar police registered an FIR and have intimated to the society that an offence has been registered. “We have started a probe and will start calling the party organiser soon”, added an officer
