The number of positive cases in Maharashtra continued to rise on Thursday with 81 more people testing positive.
So far, 416 people have tested positive from the state with 19 dead.
In Mumbai, 57 patients have tested positive. The other patients include 9 from Pune, 9 from Ahmednagar, 5 from Thane and one in Buldhana.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has identified 30 hospitals across the state which would treat only coronavirus patients.
There would be 2,305 beds across these hospitals.
The Centre has also allowed Maharashtra to conduct rapid COVID-19 tests to expedite the detection of coronavirus cases.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Minister of various states and also accepted Uddhav Thackeray’s suggestion that religious leaders should be asked to refrain from holding large gatherings.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that over 1,400 people from the state attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, of which 1,300 have been traced and are being quarantined.
