Mumbai: Customs arrests conduit in fake currency racket – Times of India

MUMBAI: The special investigation and intelligence branch (SIIB) of the customs on Saturday arrested a key conduit in a fake notes racket. Acting on a tip-off, the SIIB arrested Chennai resident Khalil Rahman (39) under the relevant IPC section for possession of fake currency.
Rahman’s name came up during the investigation of Danish Petiwala, a Mahim resident, and Saraswati Dattaram alias Muskan, Petiwala’s girlfriend, for receiving fake notes of Rs 68,000 face value in the post and circulating it. The DRI said it had information that some people were circulating fake notes smuggled into the country through post.
It all began on February 12 with the DRI arresting Muskan, who had received a Malysian parcel that was declared as cosmetics but containing 34 fake Rs 2,000 notes.
